Dawlish Walking Festival 2018

Scott Richards Solicitors are delighted to have been the main sponsor for the Dawlish Walking Festival 2018.  This is the second year that we have been the main sponsor for this annual event

Dawlish Walking Festival

Scott Richards hosted a South West Coast Path walk on Saturday 21st April from our offices in Teignmouth along the coastal path to Dawlish and then on to Dawlish Warren.  The Scott Richards Coast Path Walk was a celebration of the beautiful and wildlife rich coastline we have around Dawlish, with refreshments provided for walkers at our offices from 10.00 a.m.  The walk will left our offices at around 10.30 a.m. after the formal opening of the Walking Festival by the Mayor of Dawlish, Martin Wrigley (pictured centre below).  You can listen to The Mayor's speech by following this link (you won't need to log in) - https://www.facebook.com/dawlishwalkingfestival/videos/1814971058555787/

Although the walk started off in a fine drizzle, the day soon cleared up and the walk was enjoyed by all (see second and third pictures below).

The Dawlish Walking Festival as a whole ran from 20th to 29th April, thanks to support from many volunteers, Dawlish Town Council and Scott Richards’ sponsorship.  The final programme included 36 walks.

The walks included long rambles as well as short explorations in the beautiful landscapes around Dawlish.  There was plenty of opportunity for discovering walks in Dawlish through poetry, drawing, local heritage and meditation.

You can find more detail at https://en-gb.facebook.com/dawlishwalkingfestival/ where you can download a low resolution copy of the walks leaflet.  Please be aware that this can take some time to download.  If you visit the Dawlish Transition website, who are the organisers of the Dawlish Walking Festival, you can also listen to an interview with Toby Buckland on Radio Devon on April 19th promoting the festival - follow the link to open the audio file: http://dawlishtransition.org.uk/docs/dawlishwalkingfestivalradiointerview.mp3

To make the walks even more enjoyable, there were 7 cafés in Dawlish who generously gave discounts to walkers who took part in the Dawlish Walking Festival.  Each person completing a walk was be given a voucher in the form of a business card by the walk leader to hand to the café of their choice.  The list of cafés was printed on the reverse of the card.  The cafés are:-

Daisy's Tea Room
Home Kitchen
Jack Sprat's
No 1 Café
Reflections
The Strand Café
Ugly Duckling
